New Week

Happy Monday

I have a super busy week ahead (like most people) so I'm catching up on some much needed Monday morning "me time." Emails, Emails and more Emails, as well as a touch of light reading (love my gossip mags). Oh, and can't forget a yummy Nespresso coffee (extra froth!!!) in my gorgeous Tiffany & Co. mug to get me through this Monday morning. What would I do without my caffeine fix? Such a God send!

So last week was my uni mid-semester break and it was amazing to have a week to recuperate but now it's time to get back into the swing of assignments and study. The workload is really starting to pile on as the end of Semester 1 is nearing. Here's to a busy five days people - bring on the weekend!

Wishing everyone a fabulous week!

Things I Love

Designer Candles

Mr. Mailman paid me a little visit today! I just love my brand new designer candles, which are now sitting in my bathroom looking fab. They bring such a chic vibe to the room. I found these beauties on Etsy, which is my new favourite online site to shop. Yes, I won't lie, this site is addictive as it has so much variety. From candles to cushions and even canvases, Etsy has it all. LOVE!

Things I Love

Victoria's Secret

*NEW GOODIES*

Today I got absolutely spoilt by my beautiful parents with Victoria's Secret gifts. A new store has been opened at Perth Airport (hallelujah) and I could not be happier! Below is a photo of my gorgeous new make-up bag, a make-up kit containing eye-shadows and make-up brushes, an arrangement of lipglosses, and also make-up removers. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I'm a very lucky girl.

Who else is a sucker for all things VS? I'm obsessed!

Fashion

Style Watch

It's almost winter (YAY) so it's that time of year when you can put on those jeans that you have been absolutely DYING to wear but couldn't because of the hot weather lately. At the moment I am obsessed with the colour mint green! It's so new and fresh. Love love love!!! In this post I will be letting you know what the trends are for this season and how you can select the perfect pair of jeans for your body shape.

Fit is key. You want your jeans to fit you nice and snug. If you're a slim girl you want to make sure that they're hugging your curves in all the right places and if you're a girl with a fuller figure you don't want to have anything baggy, bulging or making you look wide.

I'm also a huge fan of the printed look. What feels fresh is a pair of jeans that have that distorted, blurry quality of a watercolour painting. You can rock the printed look ala Olivia Palermo (photographed below), who starred in The City and is one of my favourite fashionistas in the fashion industry. Olivia is always changing it up and doing something new and fun with her looks, which is what I love. She is definitely one to watch. Like Olivia has done, you need to keep in mind that size matters. The larger the print, the larger your thighs are going to look so you want to choose a pair that has a very compact, tight floral print. If the jeans have so much action going on then you want to go for something subdued when it comes to your top and of course, your shoes. *A tip - lean more towards the black and white look. I am obsessed with everything being black and white lately. Très trendy, stylish and chic. LOVE!

I hope you all have some luck finding your perfect pair of jeans for this season, ladies.

Have a fabulous weekend!

The Ten Lashes Commandments

There's no denying it - every girl wants a set of eyelashes that are going to blow people away. Although these little hairs are just there to protect our eyelids, many women enjoy using them as a tool to make themselves look even more beautiful. I for one, have learnt from experience that the trick to perfect lashes is trial and error! So what's the secret to perfect lashes? Here are my top 10 rules to live by when it comes to the perfect eyelashes. In order to make the most of what you naturally have:

1. Thou shalt not go to bed with makeup on. Any left over residue of mascara from the day will dry out your lashes and usually cause them to fall out.

2. Thou shalt not be addicted to extensions and curlers. These things are very damaging for your lashes.

3. Thou shalt not search for the "perfect mascara". There are many factors to consider - the type of lashes you have, the brush, the composition of the formula itself etc. Find the one that is perfect for YOU!

4. Thou shalt not be afraid to use two different mascaras. For example, I use one mascara to separate and define my lashes and another mascara to add depth and thickness.

5. Thou shalt not only apply to the middle of the eye. There's no point just using mascara in the middle of your eye - the inner and outer corners make a big impact so make sure you show them attention too!

6. Thou shalt believe in the power of the extra coat. It's okay to apply a few coats, but not all at once. Give the mascara some time to set, switch over to your other eye and then come back to the other one.

7. Thou shalt not use the same mascara forever. Mascara isn't meant to last you a lifetime so after 3 months or so, make sure you toss it! There does come a time when it stops working like it did when you first got it.

8. Thou shalt not deny the wiggle. Make sure you wiggle the wand from the base of the lashes upward softly rather than just one big motion upwards.

9. Thou shalt not be a serial "pump in and out" victim.  Please oh please, do not pump the wand in and out like a crazy person! You're not getting any more of the product on there, and you are drying out the formula quicker than you need to.

10. Thou shalt not let the lashes be dry. Since wearing mascara daily can really dry out your lashes, you can pop a dab of Vaseline or Almond Oil to the base of your lashes before going to bed.

My absolute favourite mascara is Lancôme Hypnôse Star Mascara. It is such a God send and works wonders. My lashes aren't exactly the easiest to curl, however this mascara lengthens and curls my lashes very well. This is definitely one beauty product I will continue to purchase. If you are interested in buying one for yourself the link is down below.

Any questions, feel free to comment me and I'll be happy to answer.

Beauty Bliss

Have you ever had trouble finding the perfect eye make-up remover? Well, you're in luck! The other day I purchased this Chanel Gentle Biphase Eye Make-Up Remover. IT IS FAB! I really did not think it would be as good as it actually is so that was a huge bonus. My eye make-up came off instantly and didn't leave any smudge marks from my mascara and eyeliner. SCORE! You can buy this product at Myer for $44.00 and it's worth every cent.

Of course, once all of your make-up is removed it's always good to moisturise your face. I moisturise both first thing in the morning and at night before bed as it refreshes my skin and leaves it feeling as soft as a babies bottom! To moisturise, I use Natio Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser. I love love love it. All you have to do is wet your hand first, squeeze a small amount of it on your hand (about the size of a 20c coin), lather the cream smoothly around your face (avoiding the eye area), and then wash it all off. Now, when it comes to drying your face, I use a face towel rather than my regular shower towel as I believe you should have a separate towel for your face always and don't go more then a couple of days without washing it. That's just for hygiene purposes and common sense.

Leave a comment if you already have these products or if you're interested in buying either. I highly recommend!

Have a happy Wednesday!

Things I Love

One of my newest purchases is this classic Chanel: Collections and Creations book. It is a lush visual selection from the Chanel archive and provides essential reading for fashionistas and design aficionados everywhere.

Chanel's combination of tradition, originality, and style has always made it the most seductive of fashion labels. Here the House of Chanel opens its private archives, revealing a galaxy of brilliant designs created by Coco Chanel from 1920 onwards. Dazzling clothes, intricate accessories, beautiful models, and timeless design leave no doubt as to the lasting fame of her name and embody everything that has come to symbolise the magic of Chanel.

The book explores five central themes - the suit, the camellia, jewellery, make-up and perfume, the little black dress, and follows the threads from past to present to show how these key items have been rediscovered and reinvented by new designers. It includes many previously unpublished archive photographs and original drawings by Karl Lagerfeld, as well as glorious images from some of the greatest names in fashion photography. There are 139 illustrations, 83 in colour.

I am so excited for this book to arrive in the coming weeks, and once it does I look forward to letting you all know my thoughts. I'm sure I will LOVE it!

Inspiration

Motivational Monday

My biggest inspiration is a woman who is an entertainment reporter, a wife, a mother, and a survivor. She has achieved so many milestones at the young age of 38 and that amazing person is Giuliana Rancic. If you have not heard of Giuliana or about her inspiring life then please take the time to read this post.

Giuliana Rancic nee DePandi, is a co-host of E! News and studied incredibly hard to get where she is today. After moving from Italy to America at a young age and not being able to speak absolutely any English, Giuliana has taught me that no matter what your situation is in life you just need to work hard and chase your dreams.

Giuliana met the love of her life, (entrepreneur and winner of The Apprentice) Bill Rancic, after interviewing him about The Apprentice for E! News. It's been almost 6 years since their wedding and their marriage is still as strong as ever, but it certainly hasn't been an easy road for the fun loving couple. It's hard to believe that in less than 2 years Giuliana and her husband Bill have experienced incredible highs and lows that no couple should have to deal with. However, they have come out on top and stronger than ever. Giuliana and Bill experienced multiple miscarriages and got discouraged by the fact that they couldn't conceive a child. Due to a mammogram Giuliana had to take to determine why she couldn't get pregnant, the couple found they were about to go through one of the scariest and most challenging experiences in the world. In October of 2010, Giuliana was diagnosed with breast cancer. From that moment on, life was not taken for granted and thankfully Giuliana got the treatment she needed (a double mastectomy). As a result of the cancer, Giuliana was advised to not get pregnant for atleast 5 years, which is why Giuliana and Bill chose to allow a gestational carrier to carry their child for 9 months. The pregnancy went according to plan and they now have an adorbs baby boy, Edward Duke Rancic. He's a cutie! From their experience, Giuliana and Bill continue to spread the word about breast cancer and have inspired many women to get their breasts checked as the same thing could happen to anyone.

G and B's new show Ready For Love premiered a few nights ago in the US and I can't wait to watch it here in Australia. Also, Giuliana and Bill Season 7 premieres in June and I am SO EXCITED!!! I have recently watched every season, which explains why I know so much about the power couple. Their lives inspire me so much and I hope to have a marriage as strong as theirs one day in the future.

So why is Giuliana Rancic my biggest inspiration? Well, that's an easy one! I have never heard of a more positive and happy person. Even though she seems to have the world on her shoulders she still manages to laugh it off. I know a kind heart when I see it and after watching back to back eps of Giuliana and Bill, I know that Giuliana doesn't have a mean bone in her body. A 21st century superwoman she is!

I will be doing Motivational Monday posts on a regular basis and they will focus on people or quotes that inspire me so stay tuned!

Happy Monday!!!
